The CPS at the ISA and IPSA World Congresses 2014

The Committee on Political Sociology has organised several sessions to the next ISA World Congress (Yokohama, 13-19 July) and IPSA Conference (Montréal, 19-24 July).

The CPS also contributes to the Joint session of RC18 Political Sociology, RC47 Social Classes and Social Movements and RC48 Social Movements, Collective Action and Social Change on Rethinking Democracies: Social Movements and Democratic Processes

IPSA - 2014 World Congress Montréal

CPS has been allowed to present 10 RC "closed" panels to the International Political Science Association will be held in Montréal (July 19-24, 2014).

CPS members and colleagues are invited to propose a closed-panel.

The deadline to submit closed-panels is October 7. Colleagues interested in submitting a closed-panel are invited to send their proposal to Piero Ignazi (piero.ignazi@unibo.it) by September 30.

Requirement for "closed panels": Title; 250 words abstract; chair; co-chairs; discussants; 4 to 6 paper givers (and their titles)

The SISP Annual Meeting offers the opportunity to explore and discuss core issues, new theoretical and methodological perspectives and recent research results in political science.

The programme includes a plenary event, the Assembly of SISP members and numerous panels, divided in thematic sections, in which participants present and discuss recent research and analyses of high scientific impact and visibility.

Locations 2013

The meeting is organized by the Department of Political and Social Sciences and the Interuniversity Research Center on Southern Europe at the University of Florence. The activities will take place in Florence at D6 and D15 buildings – 50127 Florence.

IPSA 2014 - Montréal

From July 19-24, 2014, the International Political Science Association will hold its World Congress in Montréal under the theme "Challenges of Contemporary Governance". We invite you to share your research on innovative answers to the questions of citizens, their political, associative and socio-economic representatives and the policy makers who are working constantly to improve the quality of governance.

The website for the 23rd World Congress of Political Science is accepting panel and paper proposals. Please visit the website http://ipsa.org/events/congress/montreal2014/theme for complete details on the congress and its main themes as well as important deadlines and submission guidelines.

The deadline to submit open-panel submissions has been extended to July 11. This deadline applies to all open panel submissions. Please note the difference below for open versus closed panels:

Open panel - Panel does not have any papers and is open to paper submissions once the panel is accepted. Closed panel - Panel includes invited papers (paper authors are already scheduled to present to the panel). Anyone can submit a panel/abstract. You do not need to be a member of IPSA. In order to submit a panel/abstract, however, you must hold an IPSA online account. You will asked to create an IPSA account when you submit a panel/abstract if you do not already have one.

ISA World Congress 2014

we are already in the process of organizing the Research Sessions of the Committee for Political Sociology at the 2014 ISA World Congress. ISA Secretariat allows us 18 sessions that we can organize autonomously.

There are still some panels open. You are invited to present a proposal by April 4, 2013 to the convenor, Piero Ignazi (piero.ignazi@unibo.it).

Swiss Sociological Association - Congress 2013

Announcement by CPS

Dear colleague and friends,

to date, approximately 60 proposals for parallel sessions (workshops) at the 2013 SSA Conference in Bern have been received and are currently being reviewed by the organizing committee. The call for papers for the chosen workshops will be published at the start of 2013.

Submissions for plenary sessions at the SSA 2013 Conference, "Inequality and Integration in the Crisis", will be accepted up to Tuesday, January 15th. Relevant information can be found on the website: www.sgs-kongress2013.unibe.ch
